Brown Cardboard Boxes

Posted: 25 December 2008 in joy, other folks

This year all the gifts from my family came with a caveat.  No one can remember whose gift was sent to whom.  We haven’t been able to open any of the boxes because there’s no telling exactly what’s inside.  Is it for D?  Is it mine?  Will it be wrapped?

Normally, I’d wrap things for her and vice versa, but when you don’t know whether the box addressed to you is her gift or yours you end up just like we are – mountains of cardboard boxes piled by the door.  My mother said, “Open everything and then decided what is for who.”  It’s a whole new take on unwrapping.

Here’s to giving.  And to unwrapping.  And to enjoying both.
